How many peeps do you cook for?
On a regular basis, I cook for our family of 4. Myself, my husband,
our picky 3-year-old and our 1-year-old who eats anything (including old crumbs she finds on the floor).

How many breakfasts/lunches/dinners do you make at home? Walk us through the food details of your day:

I don’t work Mondays & Wednesdays, so I make breakfast for myself
and two little ones at home. I always use a recipe from Huckle & Goose. Same goes for lunch. Dinners on those days are made for 4 and are always a recipe that will give us enough leftovers for the next day.

Tuesday & Thursdays are work days for me. I do make breakfast at home and pack lunches for my husband and me. These nights are always leftovers kind of nights. I get home late with the girls, so we reheat and eat, then off to bedtime routines.

Friday I’m home and I make breakfast and lunch. Dinner on Friday is usually me hoping my husband will come home and say he’s taking me out to a fabulous restaurant for a fabulous meal that someone else cooks and cleans up. Sometimes that happens, and sometimes it doesn’t. if it doesn’t we get on the iPad and get on Huckle & Goose to get a quick, easy, and amazing recipe—something that will give us enough room left over in our tummies for popcorn or sweets later.

Saturday is another work day for me, so my husband and kiddos are left to rummage through the fridge for the day. Dinner plans vary. Sunday we make a big breakfast and eat late. We usually skip lunch and do a comfort food recipe for Sunday night dinner—something that reminds me of big family get togethers at my grandparents’ house as a kid. Phew! I may have gone into a little too much detail, but that, in a nutshell, is our food schedule.

What was your kitchen life like before H&G? And what’s it like now with H&G?

Ok, so life before Huckle & Goose was not very fresh or healthy, I’m embarrassed to admit, but it’s true. When my husband and I met, my cooking ability was none. I remember one of the first times we cooked together, he told me to be in charge of the mashed potatoes. I said, “ok great! I can do that. How do I make them?” He looked at me with a terrified/confused look on his face. I knew in that moment, mashed potatoes must be something amazingly easy that I should know how to make. Eek. Needless to say, he did not marry me for my cooking skills. Ok, so this was years ago. Now we’re a family of 4, and I have come a long way. But still, I dreaded thinking about what to make for dinner. Every night, I’d rummage through some online recipes that never turned out to be the 5-star meal it promised to be. Disappointed and discouraged, I would then make the same 5 meals that I knew how to make, and I knew the kids would eat. Then came along Huckle & Goose. I was intimidated at first. Uncharted territory for me. But it has turned out to be such an amazing thing for me and our family. We are eating much fresher, healthier meals than I ever thought I could do. And the best part is, it’s EASY!! I rely on this service like I rely on my alarm clock or my coffee to wake me up. It’s not just a service, it’s an experience. It has forced me and my family to utilize local farmers markets, and believe it or not, we will be planting our own garden this year. The girls love going to the markets in the summer-fall to pick our veggies. I’ve always lived by the motto that if you can afford to pay someone to do something that removes stress from your life, it’s worth it. For me, Huckle & Goose is worth every penny. I am no longer stressed about the grocery store or cooking meals or worried that what I’m making isn’t healthy enough for the little ones.

Your all-time favorite H&G recipe:

We love Mongolian Beef with Ramps and the Warm Squash Salad. The list goes on and on of recipes we love, but these are definitely 2 of our favorites.

First word that comes to mind when you think of H&G:

First word that comes to mind when I think of Huckle & Goose is relief. Relief because I know I’m cooking meals that are healthy. I know there is a dinner plan. I know I don’t have to worry about what to make. I know my kids will eat what I make. It feels so good!!!

What do people say when they come over and you cook H&G food for them?

Guests are always truly amazed that, first of all, I made the meal (it’s ok, I can laugh about the lack of kitchen skill I had!). And secondly, everyone is always amazed at the freshness and goodness of anything I’ve made. I actually enjoy cooking for others now! THANK YOU HUCKLE & GOOSE!!!!
